Bruges B - Kasteel de la Faille by Daniel Mennerich
The House of Della Faille was a Southern Dutch noble family that developed under the Belgian Kingdom. The family's ancestors belonged to the Kortrijk bourgeoisie and were called Van der Faelge or Van der Failge.
The name Della Faille was first borne by Pieter della Faille (c. 1478-1546), who returned to Antwerp after a stay in Italy and became prosperous there, retaining his capitalised name.
A striking building on the east bank of the Minnewater is the Castle della Faille. This neo-Gothic castle was built in 1893 to the design of architect Karel De Wulf.
