The museum seeks to educate visitors on high speed rail & displays a number of trains including historic locomotives, world record setting experimental shinkansen & the magnetic levitating trains.

展示としては各種保存車両がメイン．車両以外の設備や仕組みについては，新幹線に関するものがいくらかある程度で，あまり多くはありません．30分に一度行われるジオラマの模型走行展示は，遊園地が動いたり，京都の送り火があったり，火災の家に消防車がやってきたりなど，走る車両以外の部分もなかなか凝っていて，面白いです．

あおなみ線を利用し、名古屋～金城ふ頭間で往復700円、入場料は大人一人1000円なので普通に来ると1700円かかる。弁当やアイスクリーム等は二階のデリカで買えるが、品切れの可能性もあるので名古屋駅で昼食等を調達した方が楽。

JR東海の鉄道博物館。佐久間レールパークにあったものを移設した形。新幹線とリニアの紹介と移設された引退車両の展示がメイン。東日本と西日本のそれと違って、直接JR線とは繋がっておらず、動態展示なものが無いのが弱点か。
